ISLAMABAD, May 1 -- At least 15 journalists were killed in Pakistan past year as journalism turns out to be one of the dangerous occupations in the militancy-hit country, according to local media report on Friday. The report revealed that like socio-economic groups in the country, the media also paid a heavy price for the war on terrorism on Pakistani territory, News Network International (NNI) news agency quoted local research result as saying. Five of the 15 journalists died as a result of suicide bombings or were killed by militants, the news agency said. Pakistan is now fighting against militancy and terrorism in the country, especially in the northwestern region bordering Afghanistan, where Journalists always take risks of reporting. |
