KABUL, July 18 -- Two policemen were killed as a mine planted by the rebels hit a police vehicle in Afghanistan's northwest Badghis province, police spokesman in the region Abdul Rauf Ahmadi said. The incident occurred in Balamirghab district Friday night, leaving two police constables dead, he added. Meantime, Qari Yusuf Ahmadi, who claims to speak for the Taliban militants in talks with media via telephone from undisclosed location, said that four policemen were killed in the roadside bombing. Three more Afghan soldiers lost their lives and three others got wounded as a roadside bomb struck their vehicle in Shajoi district of the southern Zabul province this morning. Taliban insurgents fighting Afghan and the U.S.-led forces in Afghanistan have resorted to the deadly suicide and roadside bombings which often claim civilian lives. |
